President Harry S. Truman had different ways to convince japan to quit the war. First, intensifying the already heavy bombing of Japanese cities. Secondly, waiting for the Soviet Union, an allie in defeating Germany, to join war against Japan. Lastly, invading Japan. In July 1945, when the atomic bomb became available it showed to be the most promising way to end the war as soon as possible. The Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki persuaded Emperor Hirohito, that the war was going to end immediately. The Japanese were warned five days prior before the bombing, rather than act on it they didn’t reply. So the American’s attack and later the Japanese surrender.
